Non-communicable patients are increasing in Bangladesh

Health report: Health Minister Zahid Malek said that the rate of people suffering from non-communicable diseases is increasing in the country.

Referring to a survey conducted by the Department of Health in 2022 on non-communicable diseases, he said, the prevalence of high blood pressure in the country is 24.6 percent and the prevalence of diabetes is 8.7 percent.

The Minister of Health informed this information in the National Parliament on Thursday.

Zahid Malek said that in the era of globalization, the number of patients with heart disease, liver, kidney, stroke, etc. is increasing in Bangladesh. There are many reasons for this.

The first reason is diet. Besides, the number of intellectual professions in the country is increasing day by day. Human manual labor has reduced significantly.

In addition, the use of tobacco, bidi, and cigarettes is increasing at a higher rate, which is one of the causes of the mentioned diseases. Research in this regard is ongoing.
