Over 800 Million Adults Worldwide Affected by Diabetes

Health Desk: More than 800 million adults around the world are now living with diabetes, a number that has doubled compared to previous estimates.

Over half of those aged 30 and older are not receiving any medical treatment, according to a new study.

The research, published in *The Lancet*, reveals that in 2022, 828 million people aged 18 and above were living with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Among those aged 30 and above, 59% were not receiving treatment. Prior to this, the World Health Organization had reported around 422 million people living with diabetes.

The study also found that the number of diabetes cases worldwide has doubled since 1990, with the majority of patients residing in middle and low-income countries.
