Sports Desk ; DHAKA – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Bangladesh today on a two-day official visit, coinciding with the start of the first Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Mirpur.
Upon his arrival this morning, Naqvi—who also serves as Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister—was received at the airport by Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, Interior Minister Abu Nayeem, and BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan.
The PCB shared a video of the warm reception, which included a floral welcome from the BCB executive.
On the field, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first, handing Test debuts to top-order batters Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais. Bangladesh’s lineup features a balanced attack with three pacers and two spinners.
Notably, Taskin Ahmed returns to the Test squad after a 17-month hiatus, joining Nahid Rana and Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury in the pace unit, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam lead the spin department.
This two-match series is a crucial part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle.
Pakistan currently holds the fifth position in the standings, while Bangladesh sits at eighth. The second Test is scheduled to begin in Sylhet on May 16.
