Remittances Reach 28,800 Crore Taka in October

Khairul Alam, Dhaka: Remittance flows to Bangladesh have been steadily increasing since the start of the 2024-25 fiscal years.

Following a rise in July, remittance income continued to grow in the subsequent months of August and September, with the trend persisting into October.

In October, the total remittance received was approximately $240 crore, which translates to around 28,800 crore Taka (based on an exchange rate of 120 Taka per dollar).

Bangladeshi expatriates sent an average of 927 crore Taka daily during this month.

According to updated data from the central bank, the daily average remittance for October was around $7.73 million, amounting to over $239.5 crore for the entire month.

During this period, remittances channeled through state-owned banks totaled $72.62 crore. Among specialized banks, one (Agricultural Bank) contributed $11.99 crore.

Private banks accounted for $154.18 crore, while foreign banks facilitated $0.71 crore.

In September, expatriate Bangladeshis sent a total of $240.48 crore (approximately 28,856 crore Taka) in remittances.
