Shakib Al Hasan to Lead Los Angeles in National Cricket League

Sports Desk: Shakib Al Hasan has officially stepped into leadership with the Los Angeles Waves in the United States’ National Cricket League (NCL), despite having concluded his international T20 career.

At 37, the Bangladesh all-rounder remains a vital figure in franchise cricket.

The inaugural season of the NCL kicked off on October 4, featuring six teams in a 10-over tournament, with the final scheduled for October 14.

 

Los Angeles will play its second match today against the New York Lions, starting at 9 PM Bangladesh time.

Shakib has been named captain of the team, which includes notable players like Adam Rossington, Tymal Mills, and Tim David, with Mickey Arthur serving as the coach.

Following today’s match, Los Angeles will face the Texas Gladiators on October 6, and their third match will be against the Atlanta Kings on October 7, starting at 6 PM Bangladesh time.

Tamim Iqbal was initially set to play in the league for the Texas Gladiators but will miss out due to his commentary role in the Bangladesh-India series.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi will captain the Texas team, which also includes players like Samit Patel, David Malan, and Wahab Riaz.
