Khairul Alam; Dhaka: Iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has clarified his stance on his dual identity in politics and cricket.
Following recent media discussions regarding his political future, Shakib took to Facebook on Monday night to address the public and fans.
“At this final stage of my career, my entire focus is solely on cricket,” Shakib stated. “I want to give my absolute best for the Bangladesh National Team and gift the country some great performances.”
Addressing his political aspirations, Shakib mentioned that while politics is vital for national development, it is not his immediate priority.
“I want to contribute to my country’s development after retiring from cricket. It doesn’t have to be only through politics, though politics can make the work easier,” he added.
Concluding his post, the star cricketer expressed his desire for a graceful exit: “I hope to finish my cricket career with a smile while wearing the red and green jersey. I seek the prayers and love of all the people of Bangladesh to achieve this goal.”
