Khairul Alam: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today ( 9 August) announced that 12 more districts and 123 Upazilas will be free of homeless and landless. She distributes 22,101 more houses with land under her dream housing project. That will be designed and implemented by them to reduce poverty.
“I am declaring 12 more districts and 123 sub-districts in the country homeless and landless,” she said as she virtually attended the house distribution ceremony among the beneficiaries of her official Ganabhavan residence here this morning.
The Prime Minister also congratulated those who got the house along with the land, saying, “These houses will help increase your dignity.”
He said that the soul of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be happy to see the efforts to change the fate of the people for whom he sacrificed all his life.
He also called on the beneficiaries of the houses to ensure cleanliness in and around the houses and to make economical use of electricity and water.
The Prime Minister distributed the houses built at government expense as part of his generous measure to ensure that no one is left homeless and landless in Bangladesh.
With the new announcement, 21 districts and 334 sub-districts have become homeless and landless in the fourth phase of the second round of the Aashray-2 project.
The total number of beneficiary families of the Aashray-2 project is now 2,38,851. Manikganj, Rajbari, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Naugaon, Natore, Pabna, Kushtia, Pirojpur and Jhalkathi are new homeless and landless free districts
