Apart from this last month, 52 people died in 47 railway accidents and 16 people died in waterways. In all, 494 people lost their lives in August.
According to the report, 126 people were killed in a maximum of 125 road accidents in Dhaka Division in August. 20 people lost their lives in 22 road accidents in the lower Sylhet division.
The agency said a total of 635 vehicles were involved in accidents in August. 28.34 percent of them were motorcycles. Battery operated rickshaws and easybikes with a 17 percent movement permit. 4.56 percent are illegal vehicles like Nachiman-Kariman.
According to the observation, these accidents are happening due to the free movement of motorcycles and easy bikes on the highways, motorcycles, battery-powered rickshaws, an increase in three-wheelers, defects in road construction, tendency to disobey traffic laws, traffic in the opposite direction, extortion, unfit vehicles and unskilled drivers.
