Suryavanshi Rewrites History: 15-Year-Old Prodigy Sweeps 5 Major IPL 2026 Awards

Khairul Alam ; Desk Report –  At just 15 years old, the young prodigy single-handedly scooped up five prestigious individual awards at the concluding ceremony of IPL 2026.

                   An Unprecedented Clean Sweep

Of the five accolades, Suryavanshi won the iconic Orange Cap for finishing as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with a staggering 776 runs. His ferocious scoring pace earned him the Super Striker of the Season award, boasting a mind-boggling strike rate of 237.30 across 16 innings. He also captured the Super Sixes of the Season award by clearing the boundary a record-shattering 72 times.

Beyond these three honors, the young left-hander secured the two biggest individual prizes of the night: Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Emerging Player of the Season. Suryavanshi has now etched his name in gold as the first cricketer in IPL history to win both the MVP and Emerging Player awards in the exact same season.

Furthermore, he is the first player since Chris Gayle in 2011 to finish at the absolute top of both the run-scorer and strike-rate charts (with a minimum of 20 balls faced) in a single season. Suryavanshi’s 72 sixes comfortably eclipsed Gayle’s long-standing single-season record of 59 sixes.

A Proud Yet Grounded Young Star

Despite his heroic efforts in guiding Rajasthan Royals to the playoffs, the team was eliminated in Qualifier 2 by Gujarat Titans. The Titans, in turn, lost the final to Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who successfully defended their crown to win back-to-back IPL championships in Ahmedabad.

Suryavanshi took center stage during the post-match presentation to collect his five awards. When asked about his thoughts on being crowned the MVP of the tournament, the young talent from Bihar spoke with refreshing honesty:

“It feels great, but I am also feeling a bit of pressure because of this interview! This is an incredibly proud moment for me, and I will try my best to perform even better in the next season.”

Addressing his fearless approach to hitting big shots right from the first ball of the match, Suryavanshi added:

“I just try to play my natural game. If the ball is in my slot, I try to take full advantage of it. That is simply how I play my cricket.”
