Desk Report : Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Hasan Mahmud said, although the barbed wire of the border divides Bangladesh and West Bengal in India, it cannot break the bond of our hearts and impulses. The smell of the same soil, the water of the same river, the chirping of the same birds, the rain of the same clouds, our lives in the same culture.
He said all this in his speech as Chief Guest during the opening of the 5th Bangladesh Film Festival at Nandan-1 Theater in South Kolkata on Thursday evening. At this time, if the two Bengali directors work together, the Bengali film will occupy the world stage, the minister expressed his conviction.
Hasan Mahmud, the great architect of independent Bangladesh, said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started the film industry in Bangladesh. He said that film is a medium where he can see the situation hundreds of years ago and he can also paint a picture of the future.
The Information Minister hoped that the Bangladesh Film Festival in Kolkata, in collaboration with everyone, would be successful in the past years, so this year it will be the same.
West Bengal State Education and Government Schools Minister Pratya Bose and film director Gautam Ghosh attended as guest of honor.
