Khairul Alam: The Supreme Court overturned the ruling not to overturn the complaint against the Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus for violating the labor law. Lawyers said there was no impediment in the case against Yunus.
The bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice S. Mother and Quddus Zaman this ruling on Tuesday (8 August).
On August 3, the Appeal Division changed the court’s bench and referred the judgment case against Muhammad Yunus to a new judicial bench to hear why the complaint was not annulled.
The 6-judge appeals panel headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui delivered the ruling on the state’s appeal to quash Yunus case.
On July 23, the Supreme Court issued a ruling seeking to find out why the complaint against Muhammad Yunus for violating the labor law was not dismissed.
On June 21, the Nobel laureate Yunus challenged the validity of the complaint to the Supreme Court in the case of violation of labor law.
On September 9, 2021, Mr. Arifuzzaman Labor Inspector of the Directorate of Factories and Enterprises became a plaintiff in the Dhaka Third Labor Court. He registered this case against four people including Yunus.
On December 12 of the same year, the Supreme Court suspended the case proceedings and passed its judgment. The state then appealed to the Appeals Chamber. After hearing this request, an order was issued to dismiss the case within two months.
