The UN Assistant Secretary-General is coming to Dhaka on Saturday

Muabia Laboni: United Nations Assistant Secretary-General Kanni Wignaraja is coming to Dhaka on September 9 (Saturday).

She is scheduled to visit Bhasanchar and Cox’s Bazar on this tour till September 12. Kanni Wignaraja also serves as UNDP’s Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific.

During her visit, she will meet Rohingya refugees in Bhasanchar and Cox’s Bazar. He will be able to witness the impact of various United Nations programs in the refugee camps.

Besides, she will hold high-level meetings with important government officials including the Foreign Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament, and the Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meetings are said to be important for strengthening cooperation between UNDP and the Government of Bangladesh as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region.
