Business Report: The price of apples on the market of the capital city Dhaka is 260 to 280 taka per kg and that of Malta is 270 to 280 taka. Tomatoes are being sold at a higher price than that. Tomatoes are sold at 300 takas per kg. The buyers are angry.
On visiting various markets in the capital on Wednesday (August 9) morning, it was seen that tomatoes of relatively good quality were being sold at the rate of 300 takas per kg. Some low-quality and small-sized tomatoes are being sold from Tk 260 to Tk 280.
The vendors say that 2/3 days back, tomatoes were selling at 400 takas per kg. Since then, the price has come down and now they are selling at 300 taka or something. Due to the high price, many shopkeepers do not buy this vegetable.
