Local Correspondent ; KHAGRACHHARI – In a chilling incident highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, three young men were shot dead by unidentified terrorists in Khagrachhari’s Panchhari upazila on Monday morning.
The targeted attack took place around 11:30 AM in the remote Madhumangalpara area under the No. 2 Chenggi Union.
Panchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ferdous Wahid confirmed the gruesome incident to the media. However, the identities of the victims and the motive behind the killings could not be immediately verified.
“The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained,” OC Ferdous Wahid stated. “A police team has already been dispatched to the spot to recover the bodies. Because the area is highly remote, the recovery operation is taking some time.”
The Chittagong Hill Tracts region has historically been a flashpoint for turf wars and political rivalries among various regional fractions.
Despite the gravity of the triple murder, no regional organizations or political groups have issued statements or claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of reporting.
The incident has sparked widespread panic among local residents in Panchhari. Law enforcement agencies have intensified security measures in the surrounding areas, and a thorough investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
