US President Donald Trump has made a shocking threat to destroy Iranian civilization completely. This threat came just 12 hours before a deadline set by him for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Tonight, a civilization (Iran) could be entirely destroyed, never to return.”

Trump’s deadline is set to expire at 4:30 AM local time in Iran on Wednesday, April 8th.

Just 12 hours before that, the US President posted on Truth Social: “I don’t want to see it happen (destruction of civilization), but it probably will.”

Claiming a change in Iran’s leadership, Trump wrote, “The new regime will be different, smarter, less radical. Maybe something revolutionary and fantastic will happen, who knows?”

Highlighting his long-standing grievances against Iran, he said, “Tonight is one of the more important moments in the world’s long and complicated history. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death might finally come to an end.” Finally, he wished the Iranian people well.

Meanwhile, a BBC report described Donald Trump’s message as the latest threat amidst ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Earlier, on March 21, he first announced that if Iran didn’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, he would start “wreaking havoc” targeting major power plants. However, within two days, he stated that there were “very good and productive discussions” between the two countries. Therefore, the attack plan was suspended for five days.

Then, on March 27, Trump announced an additional 10-day suspension of power plant attacks “at the request of the Iranian government.” Most recently, on Friday, Trump warned again that Iran has only “48 hours” left, and after that, he would “destroy everything.”

On Sunday, in another post, he issued an even sterner threat, saying, “Tuesday will be power plant demolition day, bridge destruction day”. Later, he specified the time: “Tuesday, 8 PM (Eastern Time)!” Accordingly, the final deadline expires in the early hours of Wednesday, Iranian time.
