Local Correspondent , Munshiganj: Two young men lost their lives in separate lightning strike incidents in Munshiganj’s Tongibari upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Md. Rizan Dhali (18) and Md. Arafat Khan (22).
According to Tongibari police, Rizan Dhali, son of Monir Dhali from Basaullah area, was playing football at the Fajushah Sholakanda marsh (beel) around 1:30 PM.
When lightning struck, he was critically injured. Locals rushed him to the Tongibari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician pronounced him dead.
In a separate incident at the same time, Arafat Khan, son of Jasim Khan, was standing on the road in front of his house in the Haiyarpada area of Dighirpar Union. He died on the spot after being struck by a lightning bolt.
The local community is in mourning following these two tragic deaths.
