Sports Desk — Zimbabwe has announced a 15-member T20 International squad under the continued leadership of veteran all-rounder Sikandar Raza, introducing three key roster changes for their upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh.
This series marks Zimbabwe’s return to the shortest format of the game after a four-month hiatus following their historic run in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Top-order batter Ben Curran has retained his spot in the national setup, having originally broken into the squad during the World Cup as an injury replacement for Brendan Taylor.
However, Zimbabwe will be without the services of seasoned leg-spinner Graeme Cremer, who was ruled out of the tour due to a left-hand finger injury.
The selectors have also dropped middle-order batsman Tony Munyonga from the side that traveled to the World Cup.
To fill the vacancies left by Taylor, Cremer, and Munyonga, Zimbabwe Cricket has handed call-ups to left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri and top-order batsman Milton Shumba alongside Curran.
Nyamhuri’s inclusion comes on the back of a sensational run of form on the current tour.
The 20-year-old left-arm quick, who debuted in international cricket in 2024, put on a stellar performance in Harare by scalping six wickets in the standalone Test.
He followed that up on July 6 with a Player of the Match performance in the first ODI, taking two wickets and chipping in with a vital 33 runs with the bat.
Although Nyamhuri has already played 5 Tests and 6 ODIs, he is yet to make his international T20 debut.
Meanwhile, Milton Shumba makes a comeback to the national side. Shumba, who features in 4 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 30 T20Is, has not represented Zimbabwe since playing an ODI against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in 2024. His last appearance in the international T20 format dates back to 2022.
The upcoming series acts as an important building block for a rejuvenated Zimbabwean side, whose crowning achievement came earlier this year when they stunned Australia and Sri Lanka to qualify for the Super Eight stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The milestone served as a redemption arch for the African nation, which had faced immense heartbreak after failing to qualify for successive ICC events, including the 2023 ODI World Cup, the 2024 T20 World Cup, and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
The ongoing ODI leg between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will conclude on July 11 with the final match in Harare. The action will then shift to Bulawayo, which is scheduled to host the three-match T20I series on July 15, 17, and 19.
