Another Awami League Leader Arrested in Khaleda Zia’s Motorcade Attack Case
Police have arrested a local Awami League leader named Saymon in connection with the attack and vandalism of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s motorcade.
Tejgaon police arrested him from the Karwan Bazar area on Monday night.
Tejgaon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mo. Mobarak Hossain confirmed the arrest. He stated that Saymon was arrested in the case related to the attack and attempted murder on Khaleda Zia’s motorcade. He will be produced in court on Tuesday.
Previously, Sabbir Hossain, the general secretary of Motijheel Thana Awami League, was arrested in the same case.
The attack on Khaleda Zia’s motorcade occurred in Karwan Bazar in April 2015, during the campaign for the Dhaka North City Corporation elections.
The case was filed with Tejgaon Police Station on August 22, 2024, nine years after the incident.
