Dbarta24 Sports Desk — The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member men’s cricket squad for the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das will captain the national side, with middle-order talent Towhid Hridoy appointed as his vice-captain.
The selection highlights the inclusion of top-order batter Najmul Hossain Shanto and middle-order batter Yasir Ali Chowdhury, the latter retaining his spot following the recent Zimbabwe series.
However, the squad features notable omissions in the bowling department, as fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana failed to secure spots in the final roster.
Tournament Structure and Format
The men’s cricket tournament will feature 10 competing nations. Direct quarterfinal/knockout entry has been granted to Asia’s top four cricket-playing nations: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
The remaining six teams—Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, and Oman—will battle through the first round, with four teams advancing to complete the eight-team knockout phase.
Venue and Schedule Details
All men’s cricket matches are scheduled to take place at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. The men’s competition will run from September 24 to October 3.
Prior to the men’s event, the women’s cricket segment will be hosted at the same venue from September 17 to September 22.
