Dbarta24 Report — The ongoing health crisis in Bangladesh worsened as four additional deaths linked to measles symptoms were recorded across the country over a 24-hour period, bringing the total fatality count to 1,057 since April 10.
According to the latest health bulletin issued on Sunday by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), covering data from 8:00 AM Saturday to 8:00 AM Sunday, 1,148 new individuals presented with measles symptoms nationwide. Laboratory testing confirmed 88 new measles cases within the same timeframe.
Breakdown of Cases and Fatalities
Official DGHS figures show that out of the total 1,057 deaths registered since April 10, 101 individuals died from laboratory-confirmed measles, while 956 deaths were attributed to severe measles symptoms.
During this cumulative period, a total of 179,814 people have shown symptoms of the viral disease nationwide, with 20,562 confirmed infections following laboratory evaluations.
Regional Impact
The Dhaka division remains the epicenter of the outbreak, suffering the highest mortality rate with 430 recorded deaths from measles symptoms. The Sylhet division follows as the second most severely impacted region, recording 167 deaths.
