3 More Die with Measles Symptoms in Bangladesh; Death Toll Reaches 613

 ‍Staff Reporter ; Dhaka – Three more children have died with measles symptoms in the country over the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Meanwhile, another 117 cases of measles have been laboratory-confirmed during the same period.

According to the regular measles bulletin released by the DGHS on Saturday, a total of 91 people have died from confirmed measles infections across the country between March 15 and 8:00 AM today.

Concurrently, the total number of deaths among patients exhibiting measles symptoms has risen to 522, bringing the combined toll to 613.

A regional breakdown of the fatalities reveals that Dhaka has recorded the highest number of deaths with measles symptoms, standing at 216. This is followed by 85 deaths in the Rajshahi division, while the death toll in the Sylhet division has risen to 63.

The health directorate further noted that 915 patients visited hospitals with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, with 847 of them requiring admission.

The highest number of admissions was recorded in Dhaka hospitals, with 355 new patients, while the lowest was recorded in Rangpur with only 10 admissions.

With the latest updates, the total number of patients showing measles symptoms in the country has climbed to 77,791. Out of these, 9,620 cases have been officially confirmed through laboratory testing.
