Senior Correspondent , Dhaka – A total of six children have died from suspected measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room disclosed this information in a press release issued on Tuesday (June 2).
According to the bulletin, 1,292 suspected measles cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of suspected measles patients to 73,362 from March 15 to June 2.
Meanwhile, 42 cases were officially confirmed as measles within the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 9,136 between March 15 and June 1.
The DGHS further noted that 59,106 patients with suspected measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals from March 15 to June 2. During the same period, 54,812 patients recovered and were discharged from medical facilities.
With the six latest fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours due to suspected symptoms, the total death toll from suspected measles has climbed to 504 children since March 15.
On the other hand, no deaths were reported from laboratory-confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, leaving the total number of confirmed measles fatalities at 90 since March 15.
