Nationwide Security Surge: Bangladesh Police Put on High Alert Over Bomb Attack Threats

Bangladesh Police officers conducting night checkpost duty on high alert.
DHAKA — Law enforcement agencies across Bangladesh have been placed on high alert following intelligence warnings of potential nationwide bomb attacks and widespread sabotage.

In an urgent wireless message issued late Friday night, Police Headquarters directed all field-level units, district command staff, and specialized divisions to significantly heighten security measures and maintain maximum vigilance, particularly during nighttime operations.

According to police sources, intelligence reports suggest that extremist outfits and ill-motivated groups may attempt to trigger targeted explosions and execute subversive activities to destabilize public order across the country.

Heightened Nighttime Surveillance and Patrols

Following the alert, police personnel deployed at district-level checkposts, mobile patrols, and nighttime surveillance points have been instructed to execute their duties with extreme caution. Field officers have also been mandated to immediately report any suspicious movement or untoward incident to senior command authorities.

Wireless alerts and specialized messages have already been dispatched to unit heads, police superintendents, and metropolitan commissioners nationwide to enforce the security directive with immediate effect.

Extremist Sabotage Risks Identified

Speaking on the security posture, Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Additional Inspector General of Police (Crime and Operations) at Police Headquarters, confirmed that the cautionary directive was issued based on specific intelligence assessments.

“Based on various intelligence reports, police officers on the ground are routinely briefed to maintain caution. Fresh intelligence indicates that extremist organizations or subversive elements may attempt bomb attacks and acts of violence. Consequently, officers across all levels have been instructed to stay vigilant,” said AIGP Khandaker Rafiqul Islam.

Precautionary Measures in Motion

Law enforcement officials confirmed that security patrols around key state installations, sensitive public areas, and major transportation hubs have been reinforced. Search operations at key entry and exit points in major cities, including Dhaka, are expected to be intensified as a preventative measure.

Police Headquarters assured that the situation remains under tight surveillance and urged the public to remain calm while reporting any suspicious activities to local authorities.
