Bulbul urges ICC to take action against Tamim-led BCB board

Sports Correspondent, DHAKA – Aminul Islam Bulbul continues to claim himself as the legitimate President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), labeling the recent dissolution of the elected board as “unethical.”

In a press release issued Wednesday, Bulbul formally rejected the National Sports Council’s (NSC) decision to dismantle the board and dismissed allegations of electoral irregularities as completely baseless.

“No Ground for Investigation”

Bulbul maintained that the BCB elections held on October 6, 2025, were conducted with full transparency. He argued that the NSC lacks the legal jurisdiction to investigate the BCB’s internal electoral process.

“The allegations raised by the NSC’s investigation have no merit,” Bulbul stated. “Breaking an elected committee and forming an ad-hoc committee is a clear case of government interference in cricketing affairs.”

Appeal to the ICC

The former president announced his intention to formally lodge a complaint with the International Cricket Council (CC) against the current administrative changes. He believes the ICC’s strict stance against government intervention in national boards will work in his favor.

NSC Stands Firm

Despite Bulbul’s protests, the NSC has already moved forward. Following an independent investigation that reportedly found evidence of electoral malpractice, the NSC dissolved Bulbul’s committee and appointed an 11-member ad-hoc committee led by cricket icon Tamim Iqbal.

According to sources, the NSC has already shared the investigation findings and the list of the new committee members with the ICC. Reports suggest that the global cricket governing body has provided a positive response to the transition. Furthermore, the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have invited Tamim Iqbal, along with CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury, to attend their upcoming official meetings.
