Dbarta24 Sports Desk- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has suspended two former officials from all cricket activities following corruption and match-fixing charges linked to the recent editions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The disciplinary actions were announced via an official BCB press release on Thursday, following a comprehensive investigation conducted by the board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).
The suspended individuals are Md. Abdul Kayum Rashed, former owner of Chittagong Royals, and Md. Amin Khan, an official affiliated with Durbar Rajshahi in the 11th BPL edition and Chittagong Royals in the 12th edition.
Both individuals face serious allegations under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Abdul Kayum Rashed has been charged with four distinct breaches: attempting to manipulate the outcome or conduct of matches, failing to report corrupt approaches or inquiries to the anti-corruption authorities, refusing to cooperate with the investigation, and obstructing or delaying the ongoing inquiry.
Specifically, the BCB noted that Rashed failed to submit his primary mobile phone to ACU officers for forensic examination, preventing investigators from retrieving and verifying crucial communication records and data.
Similarly, Md. Amin Khan faces four anti-corruption charges. These include attempting to improperly influence match outcomes, soliciting or encouraging participants to engage in corrupt conduct, refusing to cooperate with anti-corruption officials, and concealing or destroying key evidence.
Under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, both Rashed and Khan have been served formal notices of charge and given 14 days to respond to the allegations as part of the ongoing disciplinary process.
The latest suspensions underscore the BCB’s continuing crackdown on unethical practices within its marquee domestic franchise tournament. With formal proceedings now underway, the board aims to enforce strict accountability and safeguard the integrity of Bangladesh cricket.
