34 arrested including BUET students for holding secret meeting in tour

Dbarta Report : A total of 34 people, including 26 students of the Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET), have been arrested for planning a demolition drive in the name of tour in Tangua  haor at Sunamganj.

They were arrested on Monday (July 31) afternoon on charges of conspiracy against the government by committing terrorist acts, secret conspiracy to cause harm to public life and religious jihad.

According to the Tahirpur police station, a team of 34 people, including 26 students of BUET and eight other students from various educational institutions, took a boat from the boat jetty in Tahirpur upazila market to go to Tangua Haor at 7 am on Sunday.

There a meeting was held to hatch a conspiracy against the government by hatching a secret conspiracy and religious jihad with the objective of causing damage to public life and property.

When the police got the information, the boat was taken to the police station in front of the new market of Tahirpur on Sunday afternoon. After a 24 hourlong interrogation, Tahirpur police station sub-inspector (SI) Rashedul Kabir registered a case under the Anti Terrorism Act on Monday afternoon.
