Muyabia Labony; DHAKA – Air quality in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, continues to fluctuate this month, ranking 8th among the world’s most polluted cities today, Sunday (April 19). According to IQAir, a global air quality monitoring organization, Dhaka recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 122, which is classified as “unhealthy” for sensitive groups.
This marks a decline from Saturday, when Dhaka’s air quality was relatively better with a score of 92, ranking 23rd globally.
Regional Comparison
India’s capital, Delhi, currently sits at the top of the list with a hazardous score of 454, posing severe health risks to its residents. Other Indian cities show varying levels: Kolkata ranks 18th with a score of 102 (unhealthy for sensitive groups), while Mumbai ranks 23rd with a score of 91, considered “moderate.”

According to AQI standards, a score of 0–50 is considered “good,” while scores above 100 signify increasing health risks for the public.
