Eight People Arrested for Attempting to Enter India Without Passports

Local Correspondence: In a crackdown by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), eight individuals, including women and children, were arrested in Moulvibazar while attempting to cross into India without passports.

The arrests took place on Thursday (November 28) afternoon in the Lalarchak area of the district. The arrested individuals were later handed over to the Kulaura Police Station that night.

Assistant Director Md. Jamal Hossain of the 46th BGB’s Srimangal Battalion stated that, based on a tip-off, BGB personnel raided the house of human trafficker Md. Waskuruni in the Lalarchak area.

During the raid, they found eight Bangladeshis at the residence and arrested them.

He further confirmed that, in preliminary questioning with local witnesses, the detainees admitted that they were staying at the house with the intention of illegally entering India without passports.

Although Waskuruni was not found at the scene, a case has been filed against him at the local police station.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Police Station, Md. Golam Apchar, mentioned that the arrested individuals were sent to court on Friday morning (November 29).
