Fuel Security: Another 5,000 Tons of Diesel Arrive from India via Friendship Pipeline

Special Correspondent ; PARBATIPUR – Amidst growing domestic demand and a nationwide push for fuel security, another consignment of 5,000 metric tons of diesel has arrived from India. The shipment, sent via the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, reached the Parbatipur depot of Padma Oil PLC at approximately 5:45 PM on Saturday.

Ongoing Supply Process

Kazi Md. Rabiul Alam, Manager (Operations) of Meghna Petroleum Limited, confirmed the arrival. He stated that the pumping process began last Thursday evening at 7:00 PM from India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).

“Diesel import from India is a continuous and ongoing process,” Alam said. “Our depots currently hold sufficient reserves, and the distribution across the country remains normal and uninterrupted.”

Import Targets for April

This marks the second major consignment to arrive this month. Earlier on April 11, the country received 8,000 metric tons. With this latest delivery, a total of 13,000 metric tons of diesel has been imported from India within the first three weeks of April.

Government officials added that another 7,000 metric tons are expected to begin pumping within the next few days. The national plan aims to import a total of 25,000 metric tons of diesel this April to stabilize the market and support the agricultural and transport sectors.
