Foreign Desk: A senior official from the Palestinian freedom-seeking organization, Hamas, Basim Naeem, has declared their unwillingness to engage in discussions regarding a prisoner exchange unless the hostilities cease.
Naeem emphasized that any dialogue on the matter would not be entertained while Israel continues its ongoing acts of mass violence.
Naeem further stated that Hamas is open to discussions aimed at ending aggression against their civilians and providing humanitarian aid to the affected population.
However, he made it clear that any talks related to the exchange of prisoners held by Israel would only be considered in the context of a comprehensive cessation of hostilities.
In response to Naeem’s remarks, Israeli President Isaac Herzog affirmed his country’s commitment to securing the release of captives and expressed readiness for additional humanitarian efforts.
The conflict has persisted, and the latest Gaza health ministry data on Tuesday (December 19) confirmed the tragic toll, with over 19,667 Palestinians having lost their lives in Israeli attacks.
According to the ministry’s information, beyond the fatalities, more than 52,000 individuals in Gaza have suffered injuries, highlighting the dire situation in the region.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with acute shortages of food, water, and essential supplies, intensifying the cries for help. Amidst these challenges, newborns face an increasingly perilous environment, adding to the gravity of the crisis.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza not only reflects the immediate suffering of its residents but also underscores the profound impact of war trauma on generations to come.
The world is witnessing the stark reality of the horrors of war, even for those who do not directly experience the battlefield.
