Desk Report: In the relentless conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the death toll among Palestinians has surged to 18,412, with over 50,100 sustaining injuries in the span of just over two months. The latest figures were released by the Palestinian Health Ministry under Hamas control on Tuesday.
Over the past 24 hours alone, 207 individuals have lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, and an additional 450 have been wounded. The ongoing Israeli offensive has left a trail of destruction, with numerous people trapped beneath the rubble of demolished buildings, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry.
On the other front, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claim to have killed more than 7,000 Hamas fighters since the conflict began in October.
Hamas officials report that at least 22 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday, targeting the region. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) reveals that the majority of Gaza’s hospitals have been completely shut down due to the Israeli offensive. Limited medical services are only available in a fraction of the remaining hospitals.
The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) expressed grave concerns after visiting Gaza, stating that the local population is enduring a “hell on earth.” The UNRWA highlights that the Israeli offensive has severely disrupted humanitarian aid distribution, exacerbating the already dire situation in Gaza.
