Staff Correspondence: Hefazat-e-Islam has called for the banning of the ISKCON organization, stating that it would send a clear message to both the Awami League and India.
The organization also declared that no “servant of India” should be allowed to rise to power in Bangladesh in the future.
Hefazat’s leaders emphasized that by banning ISKCON, they could convey a strong message that no “subservient ally” of India will be allowed to sit on the throne of power in Bangladesh.
A protest rally was organized by Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh after Friday prayers in front of the northern gate of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka.
The rally was held in protest against what they described as the “destructive activities” of ISKCON, including the alleged vandalism of mosques and court buildings, as well as the brutal killing of Advocate Shahid Saiful Islam, reportedly orchestrated by foreign entities aiming to destabilize the country.
Maulana Mamunul Haque, Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam and General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Hefazat, accused certain parties of deliberately inciting communal violence in the country.
He stated that while those arrested in connection with the murder of Saiful Islam should be prosecuted, the masterminds behind the crime should also be exposed.
Haque demanded that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina be named as an accused in the case for allegedly supporting the killing.
Without naming any specific political party, Mamunul Haque claimed that some individuals were attempting to come to power with India’s favor.
He urged these individuals to focus on pleasing the people of Bangladesh, rather than relying on India. He accused India of meddling in Bangladesh’s internal affairs for the past 15 years, leading to public anger and harm.
Haque called for a shift in India’s policy towards Bangladesh, warning that failure to do so could lead to the people of Bangladesh taking to the streets in protest.
He further claimed that if India continued to disregard the will of the Bangladeshi people, it would face a revolution.
Haque also accused Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson of the Bangladesh United Sanatan Jagaran Jot, of acting as a foreign spy and attempting to create chaos within the country under Indian directives.
