Foreign Desk: Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding talks with North Korean President Kim Jong-un at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, located in Russia’s Far Eastern region.
On Wednesday, September 13, Kim was seen leaving the cosmodrome’s interior to greet Putin. In a video released by Russian media, Putin is heard saying, “I’m very happy to see you.”
In response, the North Korean leader expressed his gratitude to Putin and conveyed “warm wishes” for their meeting.
Kim Jong-un had traveled from North Korea to Russia, a journey of nearly two days by train. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for the Kremlin, had previously mentioned that their discussions would primarily revolve around “very sensitive” issues.
Additionally, economic and cultural matters of mutual interest would also be discussed.
While Putin and Kim’s meeting is being described as an economic summit, Kim’s visit to Moscow is also seen as an effort to negotiate arms deals with Russia.
