Russian President Putin Accepts Kim’s Invitation to Visit North Korea

Foreign Desk: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has extended an invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit North Korea, marking a significant diplomatic move between the two nations.

The meeting between the two leaders took place on Wednesday, marking the first face-to-face interaction in the past four years. Following this meeting, Putin expressed his interest in visiting Pyongyang.

According to North Korea’s state news agency KCNA, Putin accepted the invitation with enthusiasm, emphasizing the potential for military cooperation between the two nations. It’s reported that Putin presented Kim with a gift, referring to each other as “rifles” in a symbolic gesture, as per Kremlin sources.

Primarily, Putin’s interest in North Korea lies in bolstering his alliance and expanding Russia’s influence in the region, particularly amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He seeks to strengthen North Korea’s military modernization efforts and solidify diplomatic ties with Kim.

However, this development has raised concerns and sparked apprehension among several nations, including the United States.

There is a fear that Kim might consider selling weapons to Moscow, possibly involving technology exchanges that could further advance North Korea’s military ambitions.

On another note, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office reported a tragic incident in the Novodmitrivka village in the Kherson region.

It is alleged that a six-year-old child was killed in a shooting incident involving Russian forces, and four others, including a 13-year-old, were injured in the attack.

The aggressors reportedly targeted a residential building and the surrounding area. Telegram messages from the area have confirmed these events.

Meanwhile, Russia has claimed that several Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the border areas of Bryansk and Belgorod.

As of now, there have been no reports of casualties related to this incident. The Kremlin has stated that this attack occurred from Wednesday night to Thursday.
