Khairul Alam ; Dhaka – In a major move to normalize bilateral relations, the Indian government has announced the resumption of tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens starting this Sunday (June 28), ending a nearly two-year suspension.
The announcement was made by the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, during a press briefing at the Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) in Dhaka on Thursday (June 25).
High Commissioner Takes Charge, Visits Visa Center
Earlier in the day, High Commissioner Trivedi officially assumed his diplomatic duties in Dhaka by presenting his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin. Following the formal ceremony, he visited the capital’s visa center to review its operations and speak with journalists.
Addressing the media, Trivedi confirmed that the tourist visa services would officially restart on June 28. He emphasized that the decision is a pivotal step forward in restoring and strengthening the bilateral ties between the two neighboring nations.
Services Available Across 5 Major Centers
To facilitate a smooth application process, the tourist visa services will be accessible through five major Indian Visa Application Centers across Bangladesh. Travelers can submit their applications at the following regional hubs:
