Foreign desk: Thousands of Muslims set fire to a church and ransacked the homes of Christians in a city in Pakistan for insulting the Quran. The attack took place in Jaranwala in East Punjab province.
Local police said at least four churches were set on fire. At least 12 buildings belonging to the church were also damaged in the fire.
It is believed that 96 percent of Pakistan’s population is Muslim. The punishment for blasphemy in the country is death.
However, no one was given the death penalty for this. However, dozens of people accused of this crime have been lynched before.
Police are registering a case against two Christian men. He said that evidence had been found that both the accused had made derogatory comments on the pages of the holy book of Islam.
One of those accused is Yasir Bhatti. Christian, 31, ran away from home.
