A video of the former co-stars greeting each other has since circulated widely online, prompting fans to call for the pair to reunite on screen.
The actors met at an IIFA press conference on October 22. After exchanging greetings, they hugged before moving on.
Their friendly interaction echoed a similar meeting at an IIFA event the previous year, suggesting the once-publicly scrutinised former couple are now comfortable around one another.
Kareena and Shahid were among Bollywood’s most talked-about couples in the 2000s. They appeared together in films including Fida, Chup Chup Ke and Jab We Met, the 2007 romantic comedy that remains especially popular with audiences.
Their relationship ended around the time Jab We Met was being filmed. Kareena later married actor Saif Ali Khan, while Shahid married Mira Rajput. Both have since started families.
The brief reunion brought a wave of nostalgia on social media, with fans recalling Kareena and Shahid’s characters, Geet and Aditya, and suggesting that the story deserves a sequel.
