Lightning Strikes Kill 3, Injure 2 Women in Natore and Naogaon

District Correspondent: Separate incidents of lightning strikes during thunderstorms have left three people dead and two women injured in Natore and Naogaon districts on Thursday morning.

In Natore’s Lalpur, a brick kiln worker was killed and two women were injured. Meanwhile, in Naogaon’s Raninagar, two agricultural laborers lost their lives while harvesting paddy in a field.

Fatal Strike at Natore Brick Kiln

According to our Lalpur correspondent, the incident occurred around 11:30 AM at the Super Brick Kiln in the Sirajipur area. The deceased was identified as Esken Ali Bhola, 60, a worker and son of Adu Mondal from Balitita Islampur village.

The injured individuals are Shapla Khatun, 30, wife of Firoz Sheikh from Jotdaibaki village, and Sufia Khatun, 50, wife of Polan Ali from the same area.

Local sources said the sky had been overcast since morning while the laborers were working at the kiln. Suddenly, a lightning strike hit the area, leaving three workers critically injured.

Co-workers rushed them to the Lalpur Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared Esken Ali Bhola dead. The two women received treatment, and Shapla Khatun remains hospitalized.

Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter, stating that the body would be handed over to the family following legal procedures.

Two Farmers Killed in Naogaon Paddy Field

In Naogaon’s Raninagar upazila, lightning strikes claimed the lives of Akkas Fakir, 60, and Tarek Rahman, 22, while they were harvesting paddy.

Akkas Fakir was the son of the late Asad Fakir, and Tarek Rahman was the son of Aminur Rahman. Both were residents of Paroil village.

Paroil Union Parishad Chairman Jahidur Rahman Jahid stated that the duo was cutting paddy in the southern field of the village in the morning. Around 10:30 AM, heavy rain accompanied by a severe lightning strike hit the field, killing both on the spot. Other laborers later discovered the bodies and informed their families.

Raninagar Police Station OC Zakaria Mondal confirmed the deaths and noted that police teams had visited the scene.
