Cumulative Toll Since March
Data provided by health authorities reveals a concerning multi-month trend starting from March 15. Over this period, Bangladesh has registered a cumulative total of 1,044 deaths associated with the disease. Of these, 100 children succumbed to confirmed measles, while 944 died exhibiting measles symptoms.
In total, health surveillance systems have recorded 175,198 suspected measles cases and 20,282 laboratory-confirmed infections since March 15. Healthcare institutions across the nation have managed 154,420 hospital admissions, with 148,465 patients having since returned home after receiving treatment.
Measles remains a highly contagious viral illness that primarily affects children and can lead to severe health complications—including pneumonia and encephalitis—if untreated.
Public health experts continue to emphasize the importance of timely vaccination and early medical intervention to control symptom severity and halt the spread of infection among vulnerable pediatric populations.
