Dbarta24 Health desk — Six children have died from measles-related symptoms in the Dhaka Division over the past 24 hours, driving the national death toll from the viral disease and its symptoms to 816 since mid-March.
According to the latest daily bulletin released on Saturday by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the country continues to grapple with a persistent health crisis, recording hundreds of new suspected and confirmed cases daily.
Casualties and National Tally Breakdown
The official data reveals a stark picture of the outbreak’s scale since tracking began on March 15. Of the 816 total fatalities reported across the nation, 95 deaths have been definitively confirmed to be caused by measles, while 721 deaths were attributed to severe measles symptoms.

In the last 24-hour cycle alone, 78 new patients tested positive for measles nationwide, while an additional 613 individuals presented with symptoms, bringing the single-day count of new symptomatic and confirmed cases to 691.
Hospitalization and Recovery Trends
The surge in cases has placed significant pressure on healthcare facilities across the country. Cumulative data from the DGHS indicates that 105,298 patients have required hospital admission for measles or associated symptoms since March 15.
On a positive note, public health authorities reported high recovery rates among hospitalized individuals. To date, 101,535 patients have successfully recovered and been discharged from medical centers nationwide.
However, with cumulative symptomatic cases reaching 122,763 and confirmed cases exceeding 15,000, health officials continue to monitor high-risk zones closely.
With Dhaka emerging as a critical hotspot for recent casualties, public health experts emphasize the urgent need for enhanced field surveillance, widespread community awareness, and timely medical intervention to contain the spread of the virus and protect vulnerable children.
