During the same period, 1,051 new cases were registered nationwide, highlighting the persistent spread of the disease.
According to the latest report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday (19 July), the country’s total death toll from measles and related symptoms has reached 788 since March 15.
Out of these fatalities, 95 cases have been laboratory-confirmed as measles, while the remaining 693 patients died exhibiting clear symptoms of the viral infection.
The DGHS data reveals a massive burden on the healthcare system, with 14,431 confirmed measles cases documented so far.
Additionally, a staggering 117,648 individuals have been admitted to hospitals nationwide with measles-like complications during this period.
Dhaka division remains the absolute epicenter of the outbreak, bearing the highest burden of both infections and casualties.
The division alone recorded 371 deaths and 62,170 cases, accounting for more than half of the country’s total caseload. Health authorities are continuing surveillance and response measures to contain the transmission, particularly in high-density urban areas.
