Sports Desk ; Dhaka: Bangladesh ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz expressed his strong desire to have senior cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim back in the squad.
Miraz feels the team lacks “guardian-like” figures after the recent transitions.
While Shakib’s return is complicated by political issues, Miraz believes Mushfiqur is physically and mentally fit enough to play until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Miraz has already discussed this with BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul. Although Mushfiqur has retired from ODIs, the captain believes his 20 years of experience would provide crucial balance to the middle order.
However, the coaching staff and selectors are yet to make a formal decision, and Mushfiqur himself has remained silent on the matter.
