Rangpur Correspondent; Dbarta24 — Police and forensic investigators have recovered the bodies of a retired high school teacher, his wife, and their two children from their residence in the Machhuapara area of Rangpur city.
Authorities discovered the remains on Saturday night around 8:30 PM, following reports of a foul odor emanating from the three-story building.
The deceased have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty (65), a former teacher at Rangpur Zilla School; his wife, Preetilata Chakraborty (50); their daughter, Agami Chakraborty (28); and their son, Ayush Chakraborty (14). The entire family resided on the second floor of the building.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel and Rangpur Metropolitan Police quickly cordoned off the premises upon arrival. Initial observations suggest the victims were murdered several days prior to the discovery.
AKM Nazmul Kader, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station, noted that the state of decomposition indicates the killings likely took place two to three days ago.
CID Inspector Abu Hasan Kabir confirmed the recovery of the four bodies and corroborated that a foul odor had spread throughout the structure.
CID Suspects Robbery as Potential Motive
Inspectors from the Rangpur CID unit conducted a detailed preliminary examination of the crime scene late Saturday night. Sumit Chowdhury, In-Charge of Rangpur CID, briefed reporters around 1:00 AM regarding their initial findings.

The building’s electrical power line had been disconnected, and areas where money or valuables were kept were broken into. Police and forensic experts are currently collecting physical evidence, examining security conditions around the building, and interviewing neighbors and relatives.
Law enforcement officials have assured that a full-scale homicide investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
