Special Correspondent: On her birthday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina celebrated with a private dinner at her golf club in Virginia, organized by her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Unlike the National Mourning Day on August 15, when the nation observes the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Prime Minister’s birthday is typically a low-key affair.
Sheikh Hasina, who has been in office for the past 15 years, was away in the United States at the time of her birthday due to her participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
She arrived in New York on September 17th on a special flight from Bangladesh Biman. On September 23rd, she traveled from New York to Washington D.C.
During her stay in Washington D.C., she organized a dinner at her golf club in Virginia to celebrate her mother’s birthday. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the Prime Minister’s son, hosted the event.
In a Facebook post on her official page, Sajeeb Wazed Joy shared a photo of the family dinner and captioned it, ‘Ma’s birthday dinner with the family at my golf club in Virginia.’ Bangladesh local time was 5:37 AM when the post was made.”
