The last working day of the Chief Justice’s judicial life

Md. Ilias Hossen: Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui’s farewell day is approaching. He is going to retire on September 25 after completing 67 years. But as the Supreme Court will be on vacation at that time, the Registrar General of the Supreme Court Golam Rabbani said that Thursday will be the last working day of his judicial life.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, it said the Supreme Court Lawyers Association will give him a farewell reception in the courtroom.

On December 31, 2021, Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui took oath as the 23rd Chief Justice of the country from President Abdul Hamid at Banga Bhawan.

He was born, in Kushtia on September 26, 1956. After completing his studies, on 21 August 1981, he joined the legal profession by being enrolled as a lawyer in the Dhaka Judge Court.

He joined the High Court Division in 1983 and the Appellate Division in 1999 as a lawyer.
Hasan Faiz Siddiqui was Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Khulna City Corporation, Kushtia Municipality, Jalalabad Gas Transmission Company. Later he was also appointed the Additional Attorney General of high court.

On March 25, 2009, Mr. Siddiqui was appointed as a permanent justice of the High Court Division. On March 31, 2013, he became a justice of the Appellate Division. He also served as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission since 2015.

Hasan Faiz Siddiqui was sworn in as Chief Justice according to Article 96 (1) of the Constitution, judges of the Supreme Court, including the Chief Justice, can hold office for up to 67 years
