Three More Deaths Due to Dengue in Bangladesh

Health Desk: Three more people have died from dengue in Bangladesh within the last 24 hours, according to the Health Directorate’s statement on Friday morning.

This brings the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in the current month to 170, marking the highest number of fatalities in a single month this year.

According to the Health Directorate, all of the recent dengue-related deaths occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation area. Additionally, 354 people were hospitalized with dengue during the same 24-hour period.

Among them, 91 were from Dhaka North City Corporation, 86 from Dhaka South City Corporation, and the remaining cases were spread across various regions, including Dhaka Division, Rajshahi Division, Chittagong Division, Khulna Division, Mymensingh Division, Barisal Division, and Rangpur Division.

As of this year, a total of 90,794 people have been hospitalized due to dengue.

Last month alone, 30,879 people were admitted to hospitals for dengue treatment, and 28,977 people have been hospitalized so far this month.

Dengue cases and deaths reached a record high in Bangladesh last year, with 321,179 people hospitalized and 1,705 fatalities.

This year, there have been 482 dengue-related deaths, with 205 of these occurring in hospitals within the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
