US Embassy Issues Special Social Media Guidelines for Visa Applicants

Diplomatic Correspondent ; Dhaka –  The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a special directive for specific categories of nonimmigrant visa applicants, requiring them to change the privacy settings of all their social media profiles to “Public.”

The embassy announced this new requirement in an official message released today, Friday (June 5, 2026).

According to the embassy’s statement, starting from March 30, 2026, all nonimmigrant visa applicants for the following categories must ensure their social media accounts are entirely public:

  • A-3 and C-3 (if applying as domestic workers)

  • G-5 and H-3 (including their H-4 dependents)

  • K-1, K-2, and K-3

  • Q, R-1, and R-2

  • S, T, and U visas

The embassy stated that this directive has been implemented to streamline the mandatory screening procedures required to verify the identity and entry eligibility of applicants traveling to the United States.
