WHO calls for swift action to fight dengue in Bangladesh?

Khairul Alam: Dengue has taken a terrible shape in Bangladesh this year as compared to the last few years. Every day, many people are hospitalized due to dengue fever. Meanwhile, death is also happening.

At the same time, the World Health Organization (WHO) has spoken about the serious condition of dengue in the country.

The UN aid body has urged Bangladesh to take immediate steps to reduce the dengue outbreak.

He said that steps should be taken to reduce the spread of mosquitoes. Apart from this, the organization has also called for wearing full-sleeve clothes to prevent dengue.

According to the World Health Organization, dengue has been spreading in Bangladesh since the end of June. From January 1 to August 7, 69,483 people have been confirmed to be infected with dengue. In these, 327 people died.

The agency also said that dengue cases have been found in all districts of Bangladesh and the death rate is 0.47 per cent compared to infected.

The WHO also said that 43,854 people were infected in July alone. And 204 people died. The agency said that compared to the number of dengue cases and deaths in Bangladesh over the past five years, this year’s cases and deaths are unprecedented.

The World Health Organization said, ‘Dengue outbreak is being seen due to extraordinary sudden rains. It also includes high temperatures and high humidity. For these reasons, the spread of mosquitoes has increased all over Bangladesh.
