Local Correspondence: A young girl, aged 24, was shot and killed on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Shreenagar, Munshiganj.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning at around 8:30 AM, when locals noticed a body lying on the road near the Dogachi service lane and alerted the police. The police recovered the body at the scene.
Five spent bullet casings were found near the body, and authorities believe the girl was shot and killed, and then her body was thrown onto the expressway from a moving vehicle.
Several locals reported seeing the girl walking with a young man on the highway early in the morning. About an hour to an hour and a half later, passersby discovered her bullet-ridden body on the road.
However, no one recognized the young man she was with, and it remains unclear whether anyone else was involved.
Shreenagar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Kayyum Uddin Chowdhury, confirmed that an investigation was underway to identify the perpetrators and determine the woman’s identity.
Footage from nearby areas is being collected to assist in the inquiry.
