Muyabia Labony ; Dhaka – Seven more individuals have died across the country over the last 24 hours while showing symptoms of measles. However, no deaths were reported among patients with confirmed cases of measles during this period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the data in its latest report on Wednesday, covering the 24-hour window from 8:00 AM Tuesday to 8:00 AM Wednesday.
During this 24-hour period, a total of 1,265 people were affected by measles and related symptoms. Among them, 55 were laboratory-confirmed cases of measles, while 1,210 exhibited symptoms.
Out of the seven recent deaths linked to measles symptoms, six occurred in Dhaka, and one was reported in Mymensingh. With these latest casualties, the total death toll from measles and suspected symptoms since March 15 has risen to 601. This includes 511 deaths from measles-like symptoms and 90 deaths from confirmed measles cases.
According to DGHS data, a total of 74,572 people have shown symptoms of measles since March 15 of this year. Out of these, 60,158 patients required hospitalization, and 55,942 have successfully recovered and returned home.
